Cosmetic Acupuncture
Cosmetic Acupuncture with Megan
Cosmetic acupuncture supports circulation, muscle tension, and lymphatic flow in the face and body. When those systems work better, tissue looks healthier, less congested, and more balanced.
Most people think of the face first, but this work can also support areas like the neck, jaw, scalp, and other parts of the body where tension, scarring, or poor circulation affect how tissue looks and feels.
It’s a natural option if you want visible change without injections, cutting, or downtime.
What Is Cosmetic Acupuncture and How Does It Work?
Cosmetic acupuncture is a natural approach to skin rejuvenation that works by supporting the body’s own healing and repair processes. Rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine, it views the skin as a reflection of internal balance, circulation, and overall health.
From a modern perspective, acupuncture has been shown to improve circulation, reduce inflammation, and stimulate the nervous system’s role in healing. During cosmetic acupuncture treatments, very fine, sterile needles are placed at specific points in the face or body, depending on your goals.
These gentle micro-stimulations encourage increased blood flow to the area and support collagen and elastin production. Over time, this process may help improve skin tone and texture, soften the appearance of fine lines, and support healthier tissue in areas affected by scarring or stretch marks.
Rather than forcing change, cosmetic acupuncture supports gradual, natural improvement by working with the body’s own regenerative capacity.

What are the risks of Cosmetic Acupuncture?
Cosmetic acupuncture is generally very low risk when performed by a licensed acupuncturist. Mild side effects such as temporary redness or minor bruising may occur. This treatment may not be appropriate for individuals who are pregnant, take blood thinners, have bleeding or clotting disorders, or experience chronic migraines; if you receive Botox or dermal fillers, please consult your provider to ensure adequate timing before treatment.
What Should I Expect During Treatment?
Treatments are designed to be both gentle and restorative. While the placement of needles may vary depending on your goals, the overall experience is similar whether we are focusing on facial concerns or other areas of the body.
Each session lasts about one hour. You’ll relax comfortably on the treatment table while very fine, sterile needles are placed with care in the face and or body as appropriate. Many patients find this time deeply calming and choose to listen to music or a guided meditation.
For facial treatments, sessions conclude with a mini facial using Flower and Bone Supply clean beauty products. During your initial consultation, I’ll also share personalized lifestyle and skincare recommendations, which may include gua sha techniques for home care. There is no downtime after treatment, and most patients leave feeling relaxed and refreshed. Drinking plenty of water and following your customized skincare routine can help support your results. Before your session, I recommend avoiding alcohol and blood-thinning medications such as ibuprofen, aspirin, or high doses of fish oil. No other preparation is needed.
How Long Will It Take to See Results?
Results vary based on age, skin condition, and overall health. Some patients notice subtle improvements within the first few treatments, while more visible changes typically develop over time. A small clinical study found improvement after five cosmetic acupuncture sessions, and in practice, a series of 6 to 12 treatments scheduled one to two times per week is often recommended for longer-lasting results. Maintenance treatments every four to eight weeks may help preserve improvements, depending on individual factors.
Note from Megan
Some people choose to try cosmetic acupuncture once or twice to see how it feels. That’s always an option. Just know that changes tend to be more subtle and don’t usually last as long without a full series.
After your consultation, I’ll make recommendations based on your goals, your skin, and what’s realistic for your body. Most people who want noticeable, lasting change benefit from an initial series of treatments.
Once that series is complete, maintenance sessions are usually scheduled every four to eight weeks. Some people come in more often. Some less. We adjust as we go.
How long results last depends on the person. With consistent care, many people find the effects hold for several years before another focused series is needed. Your lifestyle matters too. Sleep, food, stress, and a simple, supportive skincare routine all help maintain what we’re doing here.
